The Wedding Present : George Best Studio Archive

An exceptional production archive documenting the creation and promotion of The Wedding Present’s landmark debut album, George Best

An exceptional production archive documenting the creation and promotion of The Wedding Present’s 1987 landmark debut album, George Best. Spanning rough mixes, final mixes and the completed master tape, alongside an original 1997 Special Limited Edition 4 x 10” Boxed Set of George Best Plus and promotional material, the collection traces the album’s journey from studio work-in-progress to finished record.

The tapes retain original handwritten studio annotations and track listings, offering a rare glimpse into the production process behind one of the defining British independent indie-rock albums of the 1980s. Accompanying the production material are four original George Best 10-inch records and an original record-store display featuring football icon George Best, created to support the album’s release.

A percentage of Chris Allison's proceeds from this collection will be donated to Restore The Music charity (restorethemusicuk.com), a social impact charity that addresses systemic inequality in music education by providing capital grants to state schools in areas of high socio-economic deprivation.
